Connect your readers to the stories that matter.

Our Animals and Research gallery features poignant visuals of animals who have suffered – and continue to suffer – in the name of research, available for free to anyone working to inspire change. Explore the collection.

Animals used for research and experimentation are subjected to painful procedures, forcible breeding, barren living environments and untimely deaths. This can include repeated injections, intubation, bone breaks and paralysis, blinding, lethal dosing and gassing. Using animals for research assumes that animals are enough like us to make test results relevant for human application, but different enough from us that it is ethically acceptable to confine, injure, and kill them. Our visuals help to show why it is important to develop and use animal-free research methods.
