About the Role

Broadly, the Fundraising Campaign Specialist will focus on new donor appeals and acquisition. We see this role as managing the first stop along a donor’s giving journey. The Fundraising Campaign Specialist will speak with the We Animals voice, attracting new supporters worldwide to help our cause.

We Animals’ long-term viability relies heavily on developing and implementing a successful fundraising strategy that allows for predictable, steady financial support. However, donations do more than sustain our operations. In supporting our work, we understand that donors align themselves with our efforts to end animal suffering. Their compassionate choice deserves encouragement and recognition!

We are looking for a Fundraising Campaign Specialist to join our team. This role will oversee the growth and stewardship of our individual donor base, working closely with our Founder & President, and Communications team to develop digital campaigns that increase our monthly and one-time donations to support our animal photojournalism. The Fundraising Campaign Specialist will create our annual digital fundraising plans, set quarterly targets, co-manage our fundraising platforms, and interact with our current and potential donor base. We are looking for a strong writer who can articulate why donors and funders should support We Animals and galvanize them to do so! Depending on the candidate’s experience and skills, grant research and writing may also be part of this role’s scope. The ideal candidate will also be a data-driven self-starter excited to fund WAM’s mission to bring visibility to hidden animals.

The Fundraising team consists of a Donor Engagement Specialist and a Fundraising Campaign Specialist, who report to the Managing Director. While these are distinct roles with separate responsibilities, some tasks are shared, and they are expected to work closely together on strategy, implementation, and reporting to ensure the department’s overall success. With this in mind, we expect the Donor Engagement Specialist and Campaign Specialist to collaborate and provide capacity support on specific projects and general administrative coverage as needed.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you are:

  • Excited about WAM’s mission. You believe that documenting animal stories is critical and an essential component of positive change, and can easily convince others of that, too.
  • Good with words. Your writing is clear, engaging, authentic, and tuned to its audience.
  • A friendly and timely communicator. You enjoy speaking with donors, both current and potential. People like communicating with you and you do so in a timely and organized manner.
  • Detail-oriented. Detailed record keeping is your jam.
  • Data-driven. You’re motivated to know what works and why and are keen to test new ideas.
  • A self-starter. You will bring ideas and suggestions to the table and proactively ask for information (versus waiting for instructions or information to come to you). You’re also happy to receive specific instructions on how to implement something.
  • Creative and collaborative. You believe working with others helps bring ideas to the next level.
  • Good with receiving feedback and direction. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little!
