Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Its mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans. Sea Shepherd uses its fleet to carry out direct-action tactics to document and intervene to expose and confront illegal activities.
These photographs were taken during the 2009-2010 Antarctic campaign to protect whales from being slaughtered by the Japanese. The images offer a glimpse into daily life aboard two of Sea Shepherd’s vessels, as well as the conflict between the activists and the Japanese whaling fleet.
