Hurricane Florence

Our WorkPhotos A-Z – Hurricane Florence

North Carolina is a huge agricultural state, with upwards of 900 million animals kept in industrial farms. When Hurricane Florence hit the US east coast in 2018 and caused mass flooding across the state, an estimated 5.5 million chickens drowned, as well as thousands of pigs. Working alongside local NGOs, the We Animals team documented the aftermath from both land and air.
